The mainstream media recorded the shooting at the Florida high school in February to be the third deadliest recorded since the year 1999 (Cuddy). Furthermore, the assault on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School performed by former student and 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz resulted in 17 staffers and students becoming deceased. During the massacre of Virginia Tech in the year 2007, a university senior fired and murdered 32 people whilst wounding 17 more in two separate cases before committing suicide. Conversely, the Sandy Hook Elementary School catastrophe saw Adam Lanza, 20, butchering 27 individuals whose majority included children (CNN). Despite outcry from the mainstream media, there have been numerous warnings issued by outlets claiming that these horrific acts are just the tip of the iceberg.
