Topic: Neurobiological effects on the development of a mild traumatic brain injury experienced between the ages of 18-25 in a typically developing human Name Institution Introduction Brain injury occurs when the brain cells in a particular region of the brain tend to die off (Carroll et al., 2004). As a result of this, the function performed by the region is impaired completely. Traumatic brain injury is where the death of brain cells is a result of the violent blow or jolt in the head region. Similarly, the object that tends to penetrate the skull to reach in the brain also causes traumatic brain injury. Traumatic brain injury can be grouped into three categories depending on the severity the causative agent has on the brain cells. This is mild, moderate and severe traumatic brain injury. Mild brain injury does affect the brain calls temporarily. Despite the fact that the brain cells are affected temporarily, the injury can lead to the development of a long-term complication depending on the region of the brain to which the trauma has affected (Carroll et al., 2004). Death of the brain call can be attributed to various reasons. The trauma that is experienced tends to cause brain death in various ways. These include: i) The traumatizing cause does cause brain death by directly destroying the cells to a particular region of the brain. This is mostly manifested in the penetrating object that passes through the skull and traumatizes the brain cells directly (Belanger et al., 2005). A good example is a bullet shot in the head. It tends to penetrate the skull and ultimately lead to the destruction of the brain cells in part of the brain the bullet passes. The bullet destroys the cells, their structure, their alignment and their interaction with other cells which ultimately lead to loss of the function to the brain cells affected. This leads to loss of function of the region affected. ii) Loss of blood supply also does affect the way in which the cell...
