Name: Tutor: Course: Date: News Report about Auto Accident A few weeks ago the NEWSER published an article entitled “NYC Crosswalk Crash Killed Daughter of Broadway star.” In this article, the reporter narrates a tragic accident that took place at a New York City crossway on 5th March 2018. The accident was caused by a 44-year old driver, who ostensibly ran over and killed two minors, 1-year-old Joshua Lew and 4-year-old Abigail Blumenstein and seriously injured a pregnant woman with her white Volvo Sedan car (Dier 1). According to police sources, the driver involved in this crash indicated that she experienced a seizure while driving towards the red light. The car slowly sneaked into the intersection before speed up through the crowded crosswalk. More details are indicating that after running the traffic lights, the driver raced down the street and ended up crashing into a few parked cars. Sources further indicate that the car had pulled Lew’s stroller midway down the road with the infant in it. The infant’s mother was also left with minor injuries (Dier 1). After the accident, it turned out that the pregnant woman who sustained serious injuries from the crash is Ruthie Ann Miles, a 2015 Tony Award Winner and one of the killed minors was her daughter. While her condition remained critical for some time, later reports indicated that she was stable and her unborn child was out of danger too. Surprisingly, Dorothy Bruins, the driver involved in the crash, was not immediately arrested since it was not clear whether her medical condition contributed to the condition. To minimize such car crashes it would be important for drivers who suffer from certain medical conditions to avoid driving until they recover from their conditions. Perhaps the government should also enact a law that prohibits people who have been prescribed strong medications or painkillers from driving.
